For Dr. Teresita Rodríguez, the search for an Alzheimer’s treatment wasn’t just scientific. It was personal.

When her mother Amelia was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Teresita set out on a journey that would eventually help lead to a groundbreaking treatment developed in Cuba.

Today, we are proud to share the online premiere of our latest documentary, Teresita’s Dream: Cuba’s Battle Against Alzheimer’s.

The film follows Teresita and her women-led team at Cuba’s Center for Molecular Immunology as they work to develop a treatment for Alzheimer's amid U.S.-imposed sanctions and shortages. In clinical trials, the medication, called NeuroEPO, has stabilized progression of the disease for many patients with none of the significant side effects of FDA-approved drugs.

This is a story about what is possible when science is driven by care rather than profit.

Earlier this month, Teresita’s Dream screened to a packed house at the Havana Film Festival New York. The film sparked emotional conversations about Alzheimer’s, access to medicine and the human consequences of U.S. policy toward Cuba.

“I think every congressman, every representative and senator should see this film,” said one audience member.

At a time when hardliners in Washington are ramping up economic war and calling for a military attack on Cuba, Teresita’s Dream is a testament to the resilience of a people who refuse to let U.S. aggression stop their efforts to make the world a better place.
