Happy holidays from Belly of the Beast!

As the year comes to a close, we wanted to share our latest video about two brothers at the forefront of Cuba’s next generation of jazz musicians.

The Abreu Brothers: Cuba’s Young Jazz Stars

Meet Fabio (19) and Diego (17), two Cuban siblings who have taken the island's jazz scene by storm. Fabio is a percussionist and Diego is a pianist, and together…they’re something else.

The brothers grew up surrounded by music and are now transporting Cuban jazz to new heights. Their path has taken them from the classrooms of Havana’s Amadeo Roldán Conservatory to the stage of the Teatro Martí — a rare leap for musicians still in their teens.

Winners of the Cubadisco 2025 Opera Prima Award for their album “Tributos: Jazzeando a lo cubano,” the brothers blend jazz, funk, danzón and timba into a distinctly Cuban sound.

Watch our video about the Abreu Brothers to discover how family, heritage and creativity shape the music of Cuba today.

Cuba's president Diaz Canel
